The Awareness Foundation was greatly honoured on Thursday 8th December 2016 to welcome HRH the Countess of Wessex to our centre in the heart of London.
The Countess was welcomed by The Revd Nadim Nassar, Director, and Mr Nigel Macdonald, Chair of Trustees. The first part of the visit took place in the Charles Longbottom Room, our large meeting room named after our Founding Chair. After a short, insightful speech by Nigel Macdonald, Nadim thanked Her Royal Highness for taking the time to come to visit us; he spoke of the need for the world to act to end the conflict in Syria and Iraq, and for a new worldwide culture of peace. After viewing a 9 minute video on the Foundation and its work and vision, the Countess met and talked to our Trustees, volunteers and supporters, some of whom had come from Hong Kong and Canada.
The Countess was then escorted by Nadim into the Ramon Ortiz Room, which comfortably houses four members of staff and several volunteers on a normal day. Her Royal Highness sat with each member of staff to learn more about their work. Huda Nassar, our Director for the Middle East, spoke with the Countess for a quarter of an hour about our work in the Middle East, in particular our Ambassadors for Peace and Little Heroes programmes. Josie Child, PAX Producer, and St.John Wright, Operations Director, then introduced PAX, and played our new video trailer for PAX, which she enjoyed.
We are so grateful to Her Royal Highness for recognising our work in this very special way. We should like to thank her from the bottom of our hearts, as well as Matt and Katie at Bagshott Park. Special thanks are due to Martin Clark who oversaw security for this unique occasion.
